I wrote a shrewish review of a botched take out from Ambala on the day of the Women's Football cup finals where we nearly starved because half the order was missing.
But today we stopped in for lunch and low and behold were greeted by C.K. the original owner at the Artesia Ambala. We inquired as to the whereabouts of Rick but were told he had moved to Canada and C.K. and C. Singh were there assisting in the kitchen. What heaven, what rapture - we had the potato samosas covered in channa masala to start and then I had the mutton (goat) - huge portion with a little rice and a lot of green lentil curry and a big heap of a different raita that had a lot of shreds in its - cucumber, cabbage white and red and a big slash of chili - all served with a heap of pickles, naan and a mango lassi - partner had the vegetarian curry and we both agree that the cooking had noticably improved - and it was good before, now its downright delicious. C.K. said he is in Westwood three times a week and is watching over things. It shows. Oh, the decor is somewhat fancier - little fairy lights and a few early Christmas decorations and he says if there is a birthday, just tell him and he will order a cake (down the street at Orchid Bakery is a winner).
