Ambala Dhaba in, Saffron out

Zoe | Sep 19, 200208:19 PM

Ambala Dhaba straight from little India on Pioneer Blvd in Artesia has moved into the spot of the recently shuttered 'Saffron', next to Suni on the 1700 block of Westwood Blvd.

Here's the report: Run don't walk to this delightful spot for wonderful Indian food, not watered down for American palates. The lunch special was Dhaba Chicken (SO's choice) - mine was the Bakra curry (goat, imported from Australia,Rick the Manager told us) served with rice, naan, pickles and rich yellow dal and an extraordinary raita -$5. We had fresh limeade, a big glass for $2, some Keema samosa for appetizers and a saffron/pistachio Culfi on a stick for dessert.Everything was crackling with flavor - dinner prices are $5 to $9 and they also have a good vegetarian menu. Lunch for 2, $22 plus tip.
