driving down the 5 and had to stop here on the way to orange county. wasn't terribly impressed the 1st time i went here. but this time was a different, not the same kind of fish taco as at baja ensenada. but still supremely good. ordered one, while i waited one of the ladies patted out some masa dough balls and then pressed it into a tortilla round with one of those newfangled machines. the joint is a little too corporate, chainish looking (kind of like a baja fresh or poquito mas), but don't let that deter you. the fish tacos are very good, as i found out when i took my first bite for the second time earlier today. the fish is not supremely good, but with the tortilla, the chopped tomatoey salsa and the thin cream sauce it all welded together to form a unified whole. it was defnititley great in the sum of all its parts. oh, and the fish is battered, and the tacos are tiny (half the size or even less than the ones at baja ensenada, and at 2 buck a piece they ain't cheap for tacos) but they are oh so good and oh so addictive. i went back for another one and that one was just as good and then went back for another one, i could've kept on going but i did have places to go. so if you're on a commute from la to oc, or vice versa, give it a shot. also, warning, i don't know about the rest of the menu, stick to the fish tacos. i'm aching for one at this very moment. too bad it doesn't have late hours. and it feels almost too clean for a taco shop. but the delcioous grease and shmaltz and loving care are all in the tacos.
