Aloha Grill on Alicia and Jeronimo

Anyone else try it? I have been there maybe 5 times already and all I can say that it blows everything else out of the water! I have tried Shakas, 2 different Loft(a pretty good/better place, but also a more casual place and not so "fast foody" like the ones discussed) locations and 2 different L&L locations(which I found is THE WORST hawaiian bbq, tastes like they marinated the meats in coffee and dirt and sh*t. I have no idea why my frends love it. And they're cooking techniques seem to leave food very oily, greasy with no advantageous flavor. LL must stand for Lowest of the Low).

I'll keep it short and sweet, I have tried their bbq pork, bbq chicken, bbq beef and chicken katsu. Their chicken katsu seems to be very high quality, like it was served from an izakaya type joint, nicely breaded and nice tender cuts. Their bbq pork is my fave! ALL their grilled meats are sooo moist, tender and flavorful..they must'ave put crack in their marinade, so goood. Even their macoroni salad is high quality, with big chinks of potatoe and lots of corn. And they also give a nice salad with oriental style dressing(not watered down like Mitsuwa joints).

Whenever I eat there, it doesn't seem like other hawaiian joints, which are usually greasy(dont get me wrong, i love grease, but not motor oil tasting grease), and have a "low quality" taste and preparation like the cook threw a bunch of 'ish on the grill while throwing the cooked food onto a plate ten feet from him. But.. this place(Aloha Grill) the cooks (2 old Korean/ maybe Japanese old ladies) prepare and cook their food with love! You can just tell.

I have yet to try their Spicy Pork Spare Ribs (which I hear is their most unique dish), and also their Kalbi (have not ordered yet because I am expecting something that i've already had a lot).

All this in a small location inside the Gateway shopping center on Jeronimo and Alicia, close to the Urgent Care Clinic and Tijuane Gillies.

Kinda greatfull I had that ear infeection a while back and went to the clinic, otherwise, I would have never came across this place.
