It is now open.
I don't really have a long/detailed review to post but I will just say that I enjoyed my meal.
It is setup to focus on tasting menus. Right now, one menu for $89. It allows for some choice on courses (between 2 different items for a few courses, and 3 items for dessert). There are multiple courses for savoury and for dessert.
It is one of those things where I don't really want to go into too much detail about the menu but if you want to see more there is some stuff out there on Instagram/social media.
Overall, I thought the service was excellent. We sat at the counter and it was great to see all of the work/detail going into the dish (which you can also appreciate when seeing how composed the dish is!).
If you are looking at the pics you might think that the portion sizes aren't huge but I was full after my meal as was my dining companion. The total meal was around 2.5 hrs but it seems to go by quicker than that. I enjoyed it both as an experience and as a meal. Patrick Kriss was present at all times during the meal and was checking all of the dishes going out.
We didn't do the wine pairing but it is available for an additional $65.
I understand the menu will change regularly as well.
If you are looking for some photos of the interior space and food there is also a write up on Blogto (not a review) : http://www.blogto.com/restaurants/alo...
I have a feeling this place is going to get busy once the word gets out. I have done various tasting menus in Toronto over the years (most were special menus from places like Scaramouche, Splendido, Actinolite, Chantecler) and I would rank this menu up there in terms of unique/interesting meal and good value. Suggest CHers get in there sooner rather than later.
