Finally got to Allman's in Fredericksburg. I had seen it recommended by others here, and I have to say ... I don't see why.
The meat (got a sandwich) is very generously heaped on a bun, the texture is fine and the feel of the whole sandwich is just as "over the top" as I had hoped to find at a little "discovered another good one" barbecue place. But it tastes funky - actually, it tastes very much like their abominable sauce, which I couldn't distinguish from bottled "Ken's Sweet Onion Salad Dressing".
[*Sigh*] I had hoped for better. Sorry to have nothing constructive to say (well, the little old lady in the drive-thru window was sweet and the young fellow working with her was friendly).
If I'm missing something here, would someone please fill me in?
No, sorry, don't want to hear about Woodbridge - that's not quite as close to the Mary Washington campus where my son is living off dining-hall food spiked with the occasional visit to what he terms "the worst Subway in the world."
