That's right. I said hizzie. So there!
ON TOPIC: Visited Kebab Cafe again after a prolonged break, and am happy to say that it has lost nothing. In fact, yesterday's meal may be the best ever.
Specials were the way to go, largely. Octupus salad, served cold... never EVER had octopus like that. Huge chunks, but uber-tender, and pleasantly citrusy. Felafal and humus are always grand, and nice warm pita bread makes life worth living. My stuffed lamb breast was one of the darned neatest things ever; very generous slabs over a pile of rice, covered in a sweet red sauce. Amazing. The other entree was a pile of rice, two kinds of mustard seeds (so he said), lentils, and roasted vegetables. For a dead-animal-flesh-connoisseur such as myself, this vegetarian offer was both new and delightful.
I saw in a fairly recent post that people suggested the Egyptian coffee... I agree, but don't forget the unique and interesting Hibiscus Tea; not too sweet, with nice apple slices. Great stuff.
No desert this time around, as it was vital that we move on to flushing for sago tea. But still! Ali is a wonderful host, and while prices Can add up, what's more important: eating the occasional delightful meal with the man himself, or sending ALL of your kids to college? That's what I thought.
