Please stop by and support these guys. I have had felafel in the city everywhere from the Kosher places in midtown to the alocohol absorbers in the village.
Apart from the erstwhile Bread from Beirut which has gone downhill lately, Alfanoose beats them all.
They are the only ones who make Spinach pie, Sleek (spinach/kale, lentils and cracked wheats with roasted onion - coming soon!) and Mujjhadra (cracked wheat with lentils) in the Syrian/Lebanese style. Spinach pie, Syrian style is made with wheat flour - not filo dough and should be on the lemony side. dammit ;)
Some of their recipes like their veggie kibbie in garlic sauce are from Aleppo, a town in Syria renowned for its food and culture, and to die for.
Additionally almost everything else like their desserts to their hot sauce is made "in-house" not from some container or shipped from Altoona or Detroit (like most places). So if you like hot harissa or kanafi or farina that melts in your mouth this is the place to go.
Yes, they said they are going to have more people behind the counter and speed it up. He - Muhamad and his brother-in-law are running the place together.
They have an upstairs, where they have ovens to bake fresh pies and kibbies in.
Yeah, I am excited but how many times does a fantastic restaurant come back from the dead?
