Finally went to Alexandra on Hudson at Barrow last night - What a sweet little place! Wonderful, comfortable vibe. Small room with small bistro tables, but not cramped. Full bar along the back wall. Pretty little dried wildflowers on the tables.
I started with the calamari pan fried with bread crumbs. Very generous portion and really excellent. (The server's favorite!) My husband kept dipping his bread in the sauce. He had the paprika shrimp - very large shrimp with a remoulade sauce - they were good - we both agreed the calamari was better.
For an entree I had the salmon with asparagus and a lovely polenta. Again, I had to fight off my husband's fork. The polenta was very good - as was the salmon. He had pasta with seafood - a special. It was good, but again, we both agreed the salmon was better.
For dessert he had a chocolate thing with hazelnut ice cream - a standard but very satisfying.
Nice wine list, and nice that such a small spot has a full bar.
We will put it in regular rotation.
