There is an Aldi at E 117 St, in the same building as Costco.
I've been in there twice. The first time, I walked around, didn't like the layout or cleanliness, and left.
Then I found out it's a similar concept to TJ (same parent originally), so I went back because I love TJ, and that took some getting used to.
As opposed to TJ, I saw little to no organic offerings at Aldi, and while prices were cheap, I wasn't sure about the quality of the mostly generic or store brands.
I was also skeeved out when I saw stuffed pasta that should have been refrigerated stacked outside with dried pasta. Then I noticed a few packages actually in the fridge. That's when I walked out again, with food safety alarms going off in my head.
What am I missing? How do CHs incorporate Aldi into their grocery shopping routine in NYC (or elsewhere)?
(I currently shop mostly at TJ, WF, and FW).
