Finally had a chance to see what all the buzz was about at lunch today. Decorating (my thing) was done very chic and cool...hints of antiques, inventive containers, etc, but we're here to discuss food:
Turkey and hummus melt on Sourdough. You get your choice of four breads one which includes Olive Bread-yum. Can't recall the cheese used but this was unique and tasty. Mecs Side salad had a medley of diced cucumbers, tomatoes and carrots..very tasty.
Owner waited on me at the counter so he was of course super friendly. Others were also...this is important to me. Total was around $14 w/an ice tea and fizzy water.
Headed afterwards to the gourmet food section. To take home for me and mine: Chocolate Banana Cream Pie (having tasted a bunch of this delicious dessert recently, can proudly judge that this was not up to par)$4.00; Spicy Chicken Salad (have tasted it and it's really good with a solid kick) $2.75; Rice Pudding (my fav) $2.50; Chocolate Flourless Cake. $? My boyfriend and I will sample the last two tonight over a glass of wine!
I loved the vibe of this place. Rather crowded inside but that's what counter service is like at the more popular spots (akin to Joan's on Third). Will try out breakfast next time.
