Alcazar in Encino

Had an excellent dinner tonight at Alcazar in Encino (in Plaza de Oro). This is definitely some of the best Middle Eastern food in the L.A. area.

Started with 3 appetizers. Kibbeh Nayye, which is raw beef with onions and wheat, beaten to a paste and topped with pine nuts, this was very good and perfectly spiced. Sawdat Djej, chicken livers cooked in pomegranite sauce...really good. Also a very good fatoosh salad. For entree I had lamb chops and my brother had lamb kebobs, both very good.

Topped off with a dessert of Ashta B'Assal which is sort of a yogurt topped with honey and almonds and crushed pistachios. Then some Arak and double apple hooka. Good stuff. Highly recommend this place.
