Alborz Grocery and (maybe) Deli

Nancy Berry | Jul 26, 200401:39 PM

John and I were heading down Sutter yesterday (between Franklin and Van Ness) on the way to a movie at the Galaxy when we noticed someone stocking a new tiny market with what seemed to be a nice selection of Middle Eastern ingredients. We went in and asked about the store and were told that it is an extension of Alborz, the Persian restaurant around the corner at Van Ness and Sutter. We were in a hurry, so I couldn't ask about prices, etc., but it looks promising. The fellow who was stocking the shelves said that they were considering using part of the shop as a deli. I told him that I thought that that would be a great idea. They already have a refrigerated case in the store, so I'm hoping that they will sell some ready-made foods to go.
