ok, I am finalizing plans for my spring getaway with hubby to Mendocino in a few weeks. After much deliberation and some input from the board, I've decided to save Italian Gardens for another trip: we don't want to drive an hour and can't take the time for an extra night in Elk this trip.
we have three nights: where should we eat? I already have reservations at Cafe Beaujolais, just to check it out (I wasn't that thrilled the last time I ate there, but it has been awhile).
How about Albion River Inn? (their list of single malts is certainly tempting, but we would have to flip for who would have to drive the 20 minutes back to Mendo proper). Any lower end places that Chowhounds can recommend? Lunch recommendations also encouraged but breakfast recommendations we don't need, since we are staying at Brewery Gulch and I am sure the breakfasts they make will be more than adequate.
I go to Mendo fairly often but usually we are camping at Van Damme, and cooking our own cioppino and (just caught) abalone over the camp stove and fire. What I am really looking for is somewhere I can get food that good, but without having to cook it myself or sleep on the ground after?
