FANTASTIC meal at Albertino's last night.
Kitchen got a little backed up and the entrees were delayed, but in their defense, we were a party of seven and there were two other parties of 6-8. Realizing that we were getting antsy, the owner came over to apologize and assure us that the food was on the way. Besides, we had delayed our original reservation a half-hour *and* one of our party had to arrive late, which was all handled very graciously by the owners. All in all, the service was a bit leisurely, but very warm and personal. I'm sure that someone else was having to wait for something while one of the owners had a several-minute chat with us, the same way we had to wait a few minutes to get shown to our table while he spoke with another diner. In the end, everyone was pretty darn charmed.
Apps: Artichoke appetizer and the buffalo moz w/crabmeat special were the favorites. Mushroom gratin and argula salad were also excellent, and my mom liked the chicken consommé special, but I didn't get to try it. We also loved the roasted veggies that were provided to nibble on right after we sat.
The gnocci were cute, but while I certainly don't want tough or chewy gnocci, these erred on the side of being a little mushy. My orchiette dish was good, but I liked everyone else's entrees better. I was disappointed that they didn't have the ravioli, which is what I originally wanted.
Rack of lamb special, pork chop special with gorgonzola, veal saltimbocca, whole dorado special, cioppino special...all very good. They're using good cuts of meat and everything was prepared carefully and to specifications.
