Albany - House of Bread is open with LOTS of sampling

This is a franchise with a dozen shops in a few states. So this is just a pointer to the post on the General Board.

I went in prepared to hate it, yet I was impressed. In an area with La Farine, Cheeseboard, and Acme up the street, IMO, there is a place for the style of bread made by this bakery. I will be back.

Not as good as the Bread Garden, but far, far superior to Bread Workshop. I’d place this bakery in the same category as those two.

The local shop makes sandwiches until 2 pm. However, they use Boars Head cold cuts and don’t use fresh roast turkey like the original San Luis Obispo store. The types of sandwiches are similar though.

The owner I met is very nice and heavily into training his staff to know the product.

For the immediate neighborhood it is excellent. Lots of people have discovered it and the tables were full of people happily chowing down on the baked goods.

They have a special bread card … buy 12 loaves, get one free.

Since I don’t see this info on the website, the coffee and tea is organic. They have some nice sodas like Reed’s ginger beers.

OK, that’s the local slant.

It is on San Pablo at Solano, next door to Nizza La Bella.
