Al-Markaz and Bhabi's Kitchen

Ligament | May 16, 2003 05:50 PM

Anybody try these two places?

I have eated at Al-Markaz a few times and rather enjoy it.

They are a Pakistani Zahiba joint on the east side of western that is quite clean and well maintained on the inside, in contrast to most of the other places around there. The prices are just as cheap, however.

I especially like their achar gosht. They also have brain masala.

There is a possiblity that Al-markaz was reviewed under another moniker by da mayor a while back, but I am not sure.

I am not an Indo-pak dining authority so I cannot really say that Al-Markaz whoops devon ass, but they are one of my current favorites for paki.

Now, as far as Bhabi's Kitchen goes, have not tried it. Anybody?

Also, About two blocks east of Al-Markaz on the south side of Devon is a car-mechanic shop turned cabbie hangout and eatery. They are the place on the corner with about 15 cabs stuffed into a 5 car parking lot.

I tried the Chicken Boti there while watching the cabbies shoot pool and spit in the sink. Cool place.

For dessert, I browsed their selection of international phone cards.

regards, Jason
