Once again, I have to thank my foodie Nippon-phile friend, ex-hound skylineR33, for introducing this wonderful gem of an Izakaya to me!
Tonight, our party of 3 braved pouring rain to pay this '1.5 hrs per sitting time limit' restaurant a try and based on the amazingly enjoyable experience we had, the drive and effort was well worth it. The 'Price to Quality to Value' of the food offered at this place was un-matched!
The premium fish only Sashimi platter of 'Sake, Akami, Hamachi, Shima-Aji, Kanpachi, O-Toro and Madai' featured some of the freshest fish I have had in the GTA....be it in Japanese, Korean or Chinese operated establishments! Generous portion and amazing quality for the price! The taste sensation and memory of those melt-in-the-mouth, sans fiber and sinews, O-Toro pieces still lingers on!
The unique Chef's special ' Milky seafood broth King Crab Ramen ' has a very delicate, umami flavor profile and the 7 pieces of huge crab leg pieces made this bowl an unbelievable value.
The Prime Angus Tataki, Red Crab meat salad with Tobiko and the Grilled salt-cured dried Skate wing all deserve commendable mentioning for their tastiness.
The owner of the Izakaya is a Sake expert and a number of his certificates were on display. As such, the number and variety of Sake listed on the Sake menu and on display must be one of the largest I have encountered outside of Japan. Pity I am not a Sake connoisseur to decipher and appreciate all that?
We love the food so much we spend $25 to join their VIP club which entitles us to 10% discount on food during future visits!
