When our Sunday brunch took up more time than expected, http://www.chowhound.com/post/chicago... , we missed our shot at the 4pm river cruise departure and the later ones were sold out. On such a gorgeous day, I guess everyone else had the same idea. But no matter, it was a great day for a walk and we headed for Wrigley Field.
Along the way we stopped at Aje Cafe for the hot beverage we'd skipped at North Pond and a rest. At what had been a random stop, I was delighted to see the nice selection of organic Rishi teas here. And for coffee fans, the cafe serves Intelligentsia.
I opted for Rishi's Jade Cloud green tea that had good typicity in aroma and clean flavors. Bulk loose leaf packed into a large bag, this had so much tea, I saved the tea bag to take with me for a second steeping.
Heading onward, we passed by Binny's and I had to stop, since I've never been in one of the stores. We picked up a bottle of LaPierre Morgon cru beaujolais and I handicapped the German Rieslings and Rhone reds for my friend to return for more purchases. And we had a free taste of Achaval Ferrer Malbec from Mendoza. I inquired about Champagne tastings for the holidays and learned that they'll be moved up this year to right after Thanksgiving instead of later in December.
