I'd posted a few days ago asking for out-of-town recommendations for afternoon tea, now it seems our crew will be staying in town for a tour of the White House. So, I'd like to work the afternoon tea around that. Thought about the Willard and Hay Adams (due to proximity to WH) but doesn't appear from websites that these hotels do an afternoon tea? I've been to the Mayflower, and know that Cafe Mozu at Mandarin Oriental is an option (possibly a too-pricey option) but wanted to see others' thoughts on who does the best tea in the city. Of course good food is important, but "refined" atmosphere is important too. Something classic, English-style, not Asian like Teaism. Can anyone tell me about tea at the Jefferson Hotel, other than they have fresh hot scones (all I can seem to find in Chowhound archives!) Others?
