I went to African Village Cafe roughly a week ago, and I wanted to make sure that it makes the chowhound radar. It's at 724 Myrtle Avenue, a bit of a desolate stretch of road but well worth the trip.
The food is Nigerian, not the most common in New York. The goat pepper soup was amazing, rich and complex. Actually, if you stick with any of the stews, as well as the yam (which they manage to make light, not heavy tasting), you can't have a bad meal.
