I can only afford one nice meal and can't pick where to go!

Coming to New Orleans for the first time and I'm VERY excited - I've heard endless good things about the food in your city. I've searched through this board thoroughly and am looking forward to trying all types of food.

Problem is that my friends and I are poor recent grads that can't afford to go all out and eat at all the classy restaurants. So, we've limited ourselves to one really nice meal while we are there.

We'd prefer to go to a classic New Orleans restaurant that I wouldn't be able to find elsewhere but can't decide which place! There are so many to choose from!! Galatoire's? Brennan's? Mr. B's? Bayone? Upperline? Which one? Any other ideas? Please keep in mind that price is an important factor for us. Oh, and will the guys in my group definitely need to bring a jacket and tie?

Thanks very much Hounds!
