For the past decade I've been using a toaster oven my dear late gran bought in the 80s. It's about the size of a shoe box (can toast 2.5 slices of bread at once), and I use it mostly for reheating small portions of leftovers. It's a safety and fire hazard, and really should have been replaced a long time ago. Anyway, I want to work on improving my culinary skills and making my time in the kitchen enjoyable rather than a chore, so I've started mulling over the idea of a new toaster oven.
Would it be advisable to get a big oven that can cook a whole chicken? Do I need a convection oven? Should I go for dehydrating features or whatever? Is Breville worth the price premium, or is there another brand that is of comparable quality? I'm looking to just bite the bullet, get the right thing, and not think about it ever again.
Lastly, an important feature to me (but not a dealbreaker) is auto-shutoff.
