Advice for Asian eats

I've been to NYC several times and always make eating lists that I never finish, so this time around, I'm going to rely on previous research but i just need help to tweak a bit my eating itinerary. For Thai, I'm thinking of going to Zabb Elee...I've been to Sri in Queens and loved it. If Zabb will disappoint, I'll go back to Sri. I'm interested in well balanced curries, great noodles and excellent soups.
I will be going to Chinatown for soup dumplings (XLB) and was thinking of Joe's Shanghai even though I know it has fallen out of favor, I think it will be a good introduction for my hubby who has never had them. If not Joe's where? Shanghai cafe? Chinatown Brasserie? Please enlighten me!
Lastly, for South Indian, is Saravanna Bhavan still a good place in Curry Hill or are there better options?
