Adventures in Chowhounding, Chapter 3

This adventure was going to take me to the intriguingly named Saladeen Kabob on Annandale Rd. just south of Rte 50. I say intriguingly named only because the name Saladeen, combined with the cheesy signage, conveyed to me the image of Kabul's equivalent of Janet Reno's Dance Party, circa 1966. But that's just me.

Anyway, I was about to head to Salateen when my scanning of the Washington Post health code violation list disclosed this gem: Salateen Kabob, 3103 Annandale Rd, Falls Church. Closed Feb. 4 for unsanitary conditions because of improper food temperatures.

Yum! Time for Plan B.

In this case, Plan B became Happy Family, a little storefront joint at the corner of Annandale Rd and S. Washington St. in Falls Church, a location that has seen several asian joints come and go. The current iteration is Chinese. The menu is standard NOVA suburban Chinese. I got some kung pao tofu and sha-cha chicken.

The food was quite tasty, and reheated quite well, but this stuff has become about as interesting as the food at IHOP. I promise no more adventures at Chinese restaurants!
