Adrift Anacortes

kaleokahu | Jun 22, 2015 11:13 AM

Went here for breakfast yesterday. Sat at the counter, say the place was 2/3 full. Wahine went with the eggs benedict crabcake variant, and I schlepped in with biscuits & gravy.

When I say "sat at the counter", I mean *directly* in front of the line cooks (3 fulltime), prep cooks (3 more), and the servers grabbing plates (about 5 more). The cooks use a wire strung between fishpoles to which they clothespin the written orders. Everything done by the cooks was in full view of our stools, and we saw all plates that were served up. I noticed the wire was wide enough to hold about a dozen orders.

FIFTY-SEVEN MINUTES AFTER OUR ORDER GOES ON THE WIRE, our food is served.

Really? A full-service restaurant with 3 line cooks can't put out 12 short-order breakfasts in an hour?

This experience shot a nearly 2-hour hole in my Sunday morning. It's gonna be awhile before I give Adrift another chance.
