adapted or your own?

Is it appropriate to call a recipe "your own" if all you've done is play around with a recipe of someone else's? For instance, this morning I made a cinnamin coffee cake from the Whole Food Market Cookbook - - but I used raisens instead of blueberries and added walnuts and have made it before with chocolate chips. How many ways are there to make a cinnamin coffee cake? How many other ways can one come up with? If I used more or less of the same ingredients - - is it "my recipe"? I never really follow a recipe to the T - - I always adapt it to whatever ingredients I have on hand at the time.
