just back from abq this past weekend. nice town. so many choices and plenty of good food.
thanx to whomever dropped me the link to "gil's thrilling web site" - it was a great resource.
friday - late dinner at mr. powdrell's for bbq. very, very good. the brisket was outstanding. stood up on its own. the sauce was excellent and made it even better. liked the potato salad, too.
saturday - lunch at la placita (oldest restaurant in america??) in old town after the tricentenial parade. i had a fantastic chile relleno with excellent refried beeans. red chile sauce was good but green was better. piping hot sopapillas were a nice finish.
sunday - lunch at route 66 diner where i had a very good green chile burger. my wife and sister-in-law really enjoyed their shakes and my 7 year old loved the homemade rootbeer.
sunday dinner - to change things up, we went to samurai grill & sushi. six of us sat at a tappan table to treat the kids to the show. soup was a good starter. the ginger dressed salad was refreshing. for sushi - my torro (fatty tuna) was outstanding and the california roll, tuna, and salmon were well received. entrees included chicken, shrimp, teriyaki ny steak, salmon, and noodles and all were good. $160 for four adults and two kids including shishi, three large sapporo's, three beverages, and 18% gratuity. the food was good and the kids enjoyed the show. overall - enjoyable.
