as an intermittent contributor but avid reader of the board, i've found much enjoyment in this board. i would like to mention my favorite sushi restaurant in OC - Abe in Newport Beach. i believe that they've been mentioned once or twice on this board. And, they do deserve much attention. The sushi is always quite fresh, the sushi chefs highly skilled, and the service has been consistently good.
as a general practice, i will buy beer for the sushi chefs if i've enjoyed my experience there. and similar to previous posts, at the more traditional restaurants, i'll on occasion bring a rare/older wine to accompany my dinner. when this happens, i'll share my wine with the wine steward or waiter.
i am curious, though, to find if there are other practices unique to specific types of restaurants that you may be aware of. thanks for any comments.
