How about your favorite cheap eats? I'm always on the lookout for great little gems that are affordable. I do that WAY more often than a fancy meal. (after all, I work for the State - in a school, double whammie)
Here are a few off the top of my head:
Taqueria Arrandas on Burnett - fajita burrito with both the sauces $2.50 (or the cheese enchiladas with the most killer tomatillo sauce in town for under $5)
Polvo's fajitas and all their salsas - under $8 for almost enough for three people.
Fran's burgers on Congress - under $4 and by far the best burger in town
Happy hour at Eddie V's. Everything is half price. Two ritas, Ahi tuna (him), Ceaser salad (split) and the most wonderful lobster bisque (for me) all for under $25 with tip!
Schlotsky's original sammich at the South Lamar location on the roof.
Lunch at Thai Garden (dearly missed since I moved to the north side of town) Pad Grapo $5 (I know I butchered the spelling - that's how long it's been)
Seafood Market on Airport - the Oyster Po-Boy $7 (okay not so cheap but darn good)
That's a start...
