As part of a larger road trip, my wife and I are planning to drive from New Orleans to Lafayette on US 90 between Christmas and New Year's. (We plan to end up in Mississippi for some New Year's Eve blues, but I'll save that for a separate thread.) We're not planning on stopping in NOLA this trip, unless perhaps there is some seafood place on Lake Pontchartrain that has our name on it. We have been to NOLA numerous times, but have never made it out of the city--Metairie, Kenner?--let alone Acadiana. We want to eat seafood, oysters, and boudin, see bayous, birds, Avery Island, etc. This question seems to get asked now and then, but the best threads are pretty old. For example:
Are the recommendations in this thread still valid? Also, any seasonal considerations in view of our late December time frame?
