We are looking for a good spot to eat between Sturbridge and Danbury, BUT not IN Sturbridge or Danbury. (We take day trips from Nashua NH to Somerville NJ, and the halfway point is around Waterbury CT.)
Could you PLEASE do us a favor and NOT recommend:
a.) The Publick House in Sturbridge (Too much quantity and too expensive...and it's in Sturbridge anyway)
b.) Rein's Deli - my wife is a true New York/New Jersey resident and knows bad deli when she tastes it.
c.) Any chain - which unfortunately covers 80% of the restaurants down I-84 in CT.
d.) Any restaurant that's part of a motel or hotel, especially a hotel/motel chain.
We seem to have gotten a lot recommendations for these, and we have not found a single one of them all that special.
The ideal place:
a.) Is not too expensive
b.) Won't get annoyed if we do not order anything with alchohol including wine, beer, etc.
c.) Is not more than 7 miles from any I-84 exit.
d.) Is not loud inside - we need quiet in a restaurant during a fairly long drive!
e.) You can park easily and inexpensively.
f.) (again) Not IN Sturbridge, and not IN Danbury.
We have made this request before on other restaurant boards, and have been quite surprised by the lack of a response. Are we too picky? We like lots of food from Indian to Japanese to Chinese to Italian to Thai to "American Continental" (as they say). Let's see how this board responds! (I noticed a couple of threads, but thought I should create this more specific one.)
