Wife and I moved to Center City from Newtown area a few months ago, and are trying every Indian restaurant in the hopes of replacing our favorite, back in Langhorne. I know some of you love Khajuraho, in Ardmore. Haven't gotten there yet.
Desi Village: Langhorne. There's also one in Fort Washington I haven't been to. We love this place. My wife always gets Navratan Korma and I switch between the Gosht Biryani, Gosht Vindaloo, and whatever else catches my eye. The vegetable sikh kabobs are unbelievable here.
Sita's Indian Cuisine: Newtown. Pretty good non-specialty type place. Well-made, rich sauces. Nothing will blow you away, but pretty good.
Tandoor & Dosa House: Northeast. Monday I had the Aloo Papri Chat, Masala Dosa, and Ras Malai. My wife had Navratan Korma. Very exciting food. Will be tough to choose between this and Desi Village when in neighborhood. Wife's korma had more flavors but less delicacy and richness than at Desi. My Dosa was delicious, as was my Chat.
Uduppi Dosa House: Bensalem. Bleh. Today my wife and I had Rasam, Mysore Masala Dosa, Spinach & Cheese Dosa, and Chappati with Korma. The Rasam had some flavor, everything else was bland. Didn't take our left-overs home.
Tandoor India: University City. Quite decent. Friends had the buffet. Wife had the Nevratan Korma, I had the Masala Dosa and Lamb Biryani. Meat was very fatty. Korma was a bit separated. Overall quite pleasing, but not a showstopper.
Samosa: Center City. Very mediocre.
Passage to India: Center City. Quite bad. Good live piano music on Friday nights though. We had an amusing time watching the pianist pick up a lonely lady ("Do you know this song?" "No. Teach me. You have such skillful hands.")
Minar Palace: Center City. Decent take-out. Nothing you'll remember a few days later.
