75 Chestnut

Had dinner last nite. Renovation was successful in that it is a much cozier space. When we got there around 7:30 it was just starting to fill up and was about 75% full by the time we left. Lots of folks at the bar during the entire time.

For apps, I had crabcakes and DC had chili. Loved the presentation of the chili; salsa, green onion, sour cream and cheese served separately in small ramekins on a platter that contained the bowl of chili. Crabcakes were small but delicious and accompanied by sliced cucumbers dressed in a light vinaigrette - cukes complimented the crabcakes and were perfect for a summer evening.

For entrees we had steak tips and grilled chicken breast. Tips were flavorful and cooked to DC's specifications. Grilled chicken had a delicious crispy skin and meat was juicy.

DC had a cocktail, I had a glass of wine. No dessert. Total was $69 before tip. Service was very friendly - they probably could have used another server but our waiter was attentive and helpful. The apps were a little slow to be served but after that all was smooth. Very glad about the changes at 75 Chestnut. It's just what the neighborhood needs.
