7 Numbers/ Question

A friend and I went last weekend. The previous reviews are correct but I wanted to add my own experience to the board and get some feedback...

Food was delicious. Prices were not a bargain, though at the upper-end of what they could get away with. Good food is good food. I didn't mind the decor that some have taken exception toward.

The attitude came from the service. Our waiter ruined the experience of the evening. He was unflexible about seating anywhere other than a table crammed into the corner when there were a lot of other spots available. A table with only one setting which he did not add a second to even after bringing the two of us bread. I stole a place setting from an adjacent (unoccupied) table myself. I found the answers to our questions about the menu kurt and to the point. But he was so much more attentive and informative to the larger table that came in. After he took our orders (we each had a drink, app, main, and side, but no pasta) we didn't see him again till he brought the bill...and then he asked if we needed change from the twenties we left.

My question would be: am I being too critical or expecting much better service in that neighborhood. Or is that the norm? After a week, I think now that leaving a ten percent was too much. The next time I'm treated like that anywhere I'm leaving nothing.
