We leave Paris tomorrow (sniff) after 6 weeks - but since we're driving to Venice (via Corsica) I can't really complain!
I did a lot of restaurant research before I left and overall was thrilled with the restaurants we chose - following is a list and brief comment. At the bottom is a link to the Restaurant pages of our blog which has a much fuller description of the meals and photos, plus pricing and address details. (we are still adding to it so check back in a few days for all the restaurants listed below)
Note virtually all of our meals are at lunch - the value is better and we cook in the apartment in the evenings. In most cases we had a reservation (made the day before but it is January).
Taillevent - went twice for lunch. Superb value for 80E (95E with an excellent flight of wine)
l'Affriole - an accidental find in the 7th. Also went twice for creative, delicious food.
L'Epi Dupin - some reviews were negative (too many tourists, indifferent service) but agreed the food was good. Which it was - and no tourists (except us) and excellent service
Le Mesturet - near our apartment in the 1st - fun bistro/good prices
Le Regalade St Honore - excellent lunch - walked in without a reservation and got the last table at 1pm
SPRING - although a single menu is not our favourite, we had a wonderful time here and the American chef is delightful (he sourced a chicken for us to cook at home - see the blog for the great Cou Cou experiment)
Yam'tcha - exquisite, delicate Cantonese/French cuisine and charming service
Aux Bon Crus - "our" bar/restaurant up the street from our apartment on Rue des Petits Champs - ate here many times - delicious confit (and same prices lunch and dinner which is nice). Owner Luke and Manager Malika are charming hosts
L'Ecurie - well known old restaurant by the Pantheon - famous for steak/frites. Room is delightful and staff lovely. Steak was good/frites were great
Domaine Lintillac - near the Bourse - good confit/duck at a very reasonable price
Les Fine Gueules - wine bar/restaurant - excellent fish
Higuma - Ramen restaurant famed for their dumplings. The constant line up meant we had to try it - dumplings were delicious/soup was a little thin but plentiful and cheap
L'Ami Jean - excellent Basque cuisine
Rotisserie D'en Face (Jacques Cagna) - a sentimental visit for us as we went to Cagna's main restaurant 27 years ago - had a lovely lunch at the Rotisserie across the street and spent time with M. Cagna
Au Coins des Gourmets - Indochinese cuisine - a vegetarian friend was visiting and the menu selection was excellent for him.
Joe Allen - craved a hamburger!
