Here's what I'm thinking for my 50th. Mid August--about a dozen people flying into the city from all over the country (ages range from mid-30's up to me...the old guy). I grew up in the NYC area but haven't lived there in 30 years (although I still get down to visit 2-3 times a year). Would like to do 2 good dinners(a Thursday and a Friday)but not "break the bank" crazy, as people are already being gracious enough to spring for their own air fare and hotel just to meet up. Cuisine and location are not a crucial factor, mostly it's all about the deliciousness and having some good low key fun with a bunch of really good friends. In addition to the dinners, I'd like to get everyone out to DiFara's for pizza, Katz's for Pastrami, and dumplings in Chinatown.
So far my ideas for dinner are Thursday night at Lugers (nostalgic fond memories of eating here with my Dad) and Friday (B-day night) at Lupa. So, my questions are....can Lugers and Lupa both accomodate groups of 12 or so? What do you all think about these choices? And finally, what other suggestions might you. Thanks in advance for all your help Hounds!
