50th Birthday Supper advice sought

Bob Schwartz | Apr 14, 2004 02:49 PM

We are flying to Boston the end of May to
celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. We will be
staying in the Financial District. We are trying
to pick a great place for her birthday dinner
for the two of us. I have never been to any
of these places, so it is hard to decide,
but we are down to Locke-Ober's, L'Espalier,
and Radius. Any suggestions as to which of
these three is best (or is there a better
alternative to all three of them)? We love
great and imaginative food, are not wine drinkers,
and too much pretension puts us off. We also
think that if we are in Boston perhaps we
should go to a place that is an only-in-Boston
experience, which is tending to favor
Locke-Ober's. Any ideas? Thanks
