Met our friends Lowell and Rosalie last night and had an excellent dinner here. 5 Seasons Bistro has been open for about a month and is turning out hearty, tasty food with a creative playful touch.
Sat down and started to look over the menu we were brought a plate of food to nibble on which consisted of fig infused goat cheese, salumi, wedges of bread and champagne grapes. A tasty treat while deciding what to order.

Appetizers were local corn soup with a mix of vegetables, a touch of jalapeno and finished with a small amount of cream. Grilled vegetable Napoleon topped with fresh mozzarella, pesto and balsamic cherry tomatoes. Prince Edward island mussels with leeks, garlic and chive in a lemon burgundy broth. A deconstructed spring roll with duck, bean sprouts and Napa cabbage in pomegranate sweet and sour sauce over frisee with crispy wonton chips.
All the apps were very good with the soup and spring roll being the standouts.

At this point an intermezzo of lemoncello sorbet was served and it hit the mark as it was refreshing with bits of lemon mixed in. A nice touch to the dinner.
Entrees were tequila braised Berkshire pork tenderloin, spicy mole sauce with fresh corn tamale. Mahi Mahi filet in green chili coconut broth over sauteed spinach.
"Dueling Milanese" Veal and eggplant topped with fresh mozzarella, arugula and tomato.
Porcini crusted filet mignon over broccoli rape with fonduta de fontina.
All the entrees were prepared just as ordered, we shared tastes of everything and decided that all were winners.

We finished with three desserts, all homemade. Fresh baked peach pie with whipped cream was flat out delicious, Triple layer brownies with coffee gelato was a decadent treat and dark chocolate covered bon bons with bits of almond and cherry finished off a trio of great desserts.

5 Seasons Bistro is a very nice addition to the array of Ridgewood restaurants. Chef owner Laurie has put together a menu taking advantage of fresh local ingredients and adds her creative touch.
