Hi all, it's been 5 years since I visited LA and I'm looking for a few specific types of places for a Feb. trip (altho I'm sure time will run out on me). Staying on Wilshire in the Miracle Mile area. First, would like a nice dinner in the Hollywood area that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and isn't packed with 24 year olds (but is still fun and lively). Wondering if we should go old school at Musso & Frank or try Wood & Vine or APL or??? Looking for entrees mostly <$30 but I often make a meal out of apps. American, Italian, Mediterranean, French are all good. Don't feel like spending $16 for a cocktail.
Also looking for old fashioned donut shops, not the fancy new ones. I've gone to Primo's, SK's, Bob's, Randy, Maggie's in my area, random ones in strip malls. Any others stand out?
Maybe a fun Korean spot with good drinks?
We don't have proper happy hours in Boston so I'm always trying to find nice ones while traveling. Thinking about Everson Royce Bar, Hippo Bar, Nik & Stef's Steakhouse, Seven Grand. I want to explore more of Highland Park, like spending time downtown but whatever is good and not too much of a drive.
Love the divey burger/hot dog joints. Had an amazing burger at Hawkins last visit, liked Umami Burger and Stout. Are Apple Pan and Pie n Burger worth a trip? Oh speaking of pie, love homemade pie too.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
