For some reason, many restaurants that don't "burn out" after a few years eventually hit a point where they are no longer the hot new thing, and everybod forgets about them. And yet they endure. And then one day, you're in the neighborhood, and you see the place, and you realize that you haven't heard or thought about the place in years, and that it's been even longer since you'd actually been there. So you go, and you discover that the place is still as good as you remember, and you ask yourself "Why the heck did I ever stop coming here? How did I forget them?"
Today's oddball thread starter - what's your nominee for this sort of "What ever happened to...?" place that either you've rediscovered on your own, or that reading this post makes you want to go back and check out?
