40th Birthday week in NOLA--Frequent visitor looking for a great mix of old and new

I'm heading to NOLA from NYC the last week of March for a weeklong visit to town with my family to celebrate (GULP) my 40th birthday. I am very familiar with the restaurant scene, but I need a bit of feedback on some ideas.

I am planning on one dinner with my family, including my 5-year old, at either Bacchanal (live music is coming back), Pascale's Manale, or Root. I think it will be Bacchanal, but am interested in hearing opinions on this.

My other decision is for a late lunch on my birthday (Thursday, March 29). Again, my little one is coming. I was thinking something like CP or Galatoire's.

Lastly, I want to visit Freret Street on Monday for lunch at Dat Dog. Can my wife find something on Freret if she doesn't eat meat or poultry?

Here is the full itinerary:

Monday:
Lunch: Freret Street
Dinner: Taking our 5-year old with us to the Grill Room at the Windsor Court--we bought a hotel package that includes one meal there, though I'm not thrilled with the idea.

Tuesday:
Lunch: Dooky Chase!
Dinner: Coquette (after catching Kermit Ruffins at Bullets)

Wednesday:
Lunch: Dong Phuong
Dinner: Bacchanal/Root/Pascale's Manale??

Thursday:
Birthday Lunch: CP/Galatoire's/Other??
Dinner: Tracy's and Parasol's for RB poor boys (a taste test will ensue)

Friday:
Lunch: Green Goddess (Picking up a muffuletta from CG for the plane, of course).

Thanks in advance for your thoughts. If there are any other new restaurants that I must try, please let me know. I've heard good things about Root, so interested in thoughts on that.

Brett
