I've got a morning teaching gig at UCLA this quarter, and I'm in search of cheap (<$15), interesting lunch places between Westwood and home (Costa Mesa). I'm open to any kind of cuisine--the weirder, the better.
My one other requirement (besides cheapness and hound-worthiness) is that they be quickly accessible to the 405--I want to add as little mileage to my already hellish commute as possible!
So far, I've checked out Pann's (downside: I get so sleepy after filling up there that driving home becomes dangerous) and a couple of the Oaxacan places in WLA (Monte Alban is cheap and very good).
Any other suggestions? I'm pretty familiar with the scene in Westwood/West LA and central OC (Westminster and points south) , so I'd particularly appreciate suggestions in the Long Beach/South Bay areas.
Thanks in advance for your help!
