4 nights in Austin for couple who don't like barbecue

middleagedfoodie | Oct 9, 201909:35 AM     7

It's a special bday for me and we've never been to Austin. We are very adventurous but we're not big fans of barbecue. We love haute Mexican and Southern, two underserved cuisines in our home city, Philly. Italian is out of the question since that is Philly's dominant cuisine. Right now, the places we're most interested in are El Naranja, Suerte, Olamie, Barley Swine and Elmer and Rye. We have to knock off one but need your help in figuring out which one. Or, are we missing something that is not to be missed? As far as casual dining, we have several on our list for breakfasts or lunches, but we want slightly more elegant dinner choices.

El Naranjo - South Lamar
Suerte
Emmer & Rye
