Was on business in NYC for a long weekend from D.C and thought I'd give a brief report. Lunches:1. Michael Jordan Steakhouse - great, great burger and side of onion rings.2.Fred's at Barney's-outrageously expensive but delicous salad.Dinners:1. Casa Mono was probably the highlight of my trip. Unbelievably good calamari and skirt steak. Sugar snap peas great as well. 2. Lupa- was wonderful but the chicken special not as mind-blowing as the bartenders description. Prosciutto and arugula croquettes were deep fried and spectacular.3. Bond 45- Had heard negative things on this board but the pasta was above average. 4. Babbo- Pasta spectacular and mozzarella and tomato appetizer the best I've ever had. Had gelato from the Otto cart in the park. Ate all dinners at the bar and service everywhere was perfect, especially Lupa. Hotel was at 38th and Madison and had breakfast several times at Chez Laurence Bistro which was surprisingly good. Breads were from Balthazar and delighful pastries made on-site. Cookies and other pastries from Patisserie Payard were unreal. It was almost a gastronomical overload but probably the best weekend of eating in my lifetime.
