39 East

Tried 39 East last night and was majorly disappointed. The food was timid and bland. They had the obligatory odd geometric shaped plates and little squiggles and dots of sauce, but the flavors were absolutely bor-ring. Also expensive for what you got and where they are.

We had lobster with wonton noodles that turned out to be a boiled lobster plunked on some noodles that may have been made from wonton dough. No other accompaniments. We also had Peking duck. It was not as crisp as it should have been, and arrived tepid, because when they brought our entrees, they realised that they hadn't taken away our appetizers, so they returned them to the kitchen while they cleared, then brought it back. We also had a side dish called "interesting vegetable." It was anything but.

Maybe they're still getting they're act together, but until they do, be warned.
