a truly spectacular meal here tonight, red hook wins again. some fisher island oysters - briny and salty and great, calamari tart - perfectly cooked small pieces of calamari in a lovely, light puff pastry with olive oil and olive pieces.....a spicy, pureed, complex gazpacho, skatefish with vegetables that was beautifully seasoned and cooked, softshells in a sauce that seemed to have sprouts, lentils(?), apricot pieces - perfection...and for dessert - a key lime mousse napoleon topped with raspberries. couldn't have been lighter or more refreshing. fantastic wines of course as the cellar there is filled with hard to find treats.....a beautiful gamay, a sauvignon blanc called quartz - that really smelled like quartz, and on and on.
and as always.....delightful, relaxed atmosphere. great evening.
