Who Makes 3 Quart Tri-Ply Fully-Clad Stainless Saucepan?

Question

Who makes a fully-clad tri-ply (or more layers) saucepan that:

* has vertical walls (no sauciers)
* has welded handles (no bolts)
* is 2.5 to 3 quarts in volume

I was hoping that Demeyere Industry5 had this, but they jump from around 2 quarts to around 4 quarts. Demeyere Atlantis is not a fully-clad saucepan. Demeyere Atlantis has this in a saucier but I wanted the vertical walls.

I think the desire for welded handles is limiting your choices severely. Riveted handles are more common in larger saucepans of good quality. I prefer rivets, myself. I have an old saucepan which lost its welded handle. I still use it for a few things, but a pot with a handle is better.

Once again, Kaleo's crusade against disc-based cookware has led him to ignore your actual question.

The short answer is that there aren't many options here, at least not anymore. There is one. Kitchenaid tri-ply used to be made in this size, but no longer. Demeyere/Zwilling still make a 3 quart size but it may not be available reliably. Littala also makes a smaller saucepan that's rivetless. 

If clad is what's most important to you, then you may wish to accept rivets. If rivetless is most important, and you're willing to forego clad, there are a number of alternatives.

Unfortunately - for some odd reason - both Demeyere Atlantis and Zwilling Pro make a fully clad saucier, but in their classic saucepan shape they both have a disc bottom attached to the body. 

Only suggestion I could find is only 1.7 qt and is the Eva Trio Multi saucepan :

I own both models and they perform excellent.

If you can live with rivets there are many choices as our troll suggests.

But as you state you want to avoid rivets, so if you can live with a disc bottom, I would still consider Demeyere 5-PLY or 7-PLY or if you’re on a budget the Zwilling Pro Saucepan (probably made by Demeyere as Zwilling owns Demeyere) is a very good choice too (I own the 20 cm frying pan in the Zwilling Pro model and it has no rivets nor a disc bottom and performs really well)

But I can’t find a saucepan that will fit your preferences 100%.

I think you’re looking at the pot all wrong.

The reported volume of the pan is just a shorthand for the size, but the more accurate method to think of your pots and pans is by diameter.

Demeyere Industry most certainly follows the industry norm of 2 cm jump per size. I think their 2 quarts is more like 2.4 and their 4 qt is 3.6. IIRC.

As such, IMO, you should be shopping for a 18/16 cm saucepan, which Demeyere does make.

Curious as to why you prefer the welded handles. I have an old Cuisinart 2qt pan with a welded handle and I think it feels rather flimsy. 
Alternatively, Le Creuset makes an ECI saucepan that holds 2.25 qt. Handle isn't riveted. It holds the heat quite well.

This is the realm of a failure analysis metallurgist-engineer. So all I have are educated guesses about weld strength.

I can tell you that the Demeyere handle came completely off--both welds broke. Whether they broke at the same time, or one had broken earlier, or one or both had cracked/corroded prior to complete failure is unknown. T; the actual welds aren't visible.

I can also tell you that Demeyere had a video of an employee (whom our Duffy pines for, a/k/a the "skinny Belgian") standing and bouncing on a pan under one foot and the handle under another. 

FYI, the two welds on the Demeyere that failed are substantially larger in size than the are the pinpoint spots used by makers like Fissler, etc. However, Fissler does 4 of these tiny spots, so who knows?

If you look closey at the Fisser flanges, you can tell which of the "dots" are real welds, and which are decorative--the dots where there are real welds are slightly deeper. On mine, the welds are at the 2, 4, 8, and 10-o'clock positions. In the riht liht, you may see the weld locations reflected in the lining. If you have more on your stockpot, please post.

Hey Westes 

95% of may dailies are all welded handles. The only rivets I have as a daily is a NS. I don't have hesitancy with them being welded handles. 

-If I had one wish that is yet unfulfilled-, is to have two 24cm and two 28cm skillets, weighing no more than 3 1/2lb tops (so the mister and missus would be happy using them for the weight) with true sealed cores that are dw safe. 

Wishful thinking eh.
