Mom and I had a chance to check out Fish Taco Tuesday at Giovanni’s Fish Market and Galley during our Cambria vacation in August. Cold and foggy on the patio, we heeded the signs to protect our food from the marauding seagulls. Quite entertaining to see the lunch plate of a less watchful customer grabbed by the gulls.
We tried a cup of white chowder, $3.99, cup of coleslaw, $1.99, and two taco Tuesdays, $6. Can’t recommend the chowder or the coleslaw. The firmish rock fish was moist under the softish batter but rather skimpy. Corn tortillas were dry and papery. The shredded lettuce, diced tomato, and cilantro seemed fresh enough, and Mom picked the shredded cheese off her taco. The salsa was very plain. The tacos might be worth $3 each, but we probably wouldn’t order them again. Here’s the photo.
What we did like about Giovanni’s is the view of Morro rock.
And also the fish market’s selection, freshness and pricing. The seafood selection is online and seems to be updated regularly with the prices and sources. I was tracking the changes in inventory for a couple days before we went in. We got a great piece of supremely fresh ling cod to cook ourselves back at the house that had just appeared online that morning.
