25 Degrees--okay, not great

I am back to having the occasional burger after a time away from meat. We plan to work our way little by little through all the many great suggestions Chowhounds offered back in December--Lucky Devil was the choice then & the burgers & milkshakes were excellent, the ambiance not so much.

Today we tried 25 Degrees in the Hollywood Hotel. The chopped salad with lettuce, avocadoes, white beans, beets, & grapes was just okay to my palate--the dressing tasted a lot like mayo. They were "out of" Caesar's--they aren't prepared freshly? We didn't ask, our son just passed on salad, hearing that. The fries weren't especially crispy, not bad, though, but nothing memorable. He enjoyed the strawberry shake but said it didn't measure up to Lucky Devil's.

It was nice to be able to pick from many choices of cheeses & other toppings for the sirloin burger ($9). I chose caramelized onions ($1) & Red Hawk cheese($1.50) with chipotle sauce (.50). The beef was better than okay but nothing special.

It was fun to wander through the very dark historic hotel lobby.

Total for 3 burgers, one salad, one shake, one half bottle of wine, one beer, 1 order fries, approx. $83 plus tip.
